I get the feeling that having numbered steps here was unintentional. It looks odd to have "Step 1" thrown at you 10+ times.

Funny! I had thoroughly tested it beforehand too. Ran the edit through the regex and the line that triggered it was "X user @Pestily", so definitely a perfect storm in terms of phrasing and usernames to place those specific characters in the middle together. I was waiting for our favourite sockpuppet to trip it first and thought that it was narrow enough for testing purposes, but apparently not 🙃

And as a quick addendum, the word "blindly" felt unnecessarily strong there and I reject the implications it carries :)
