Take your Pawmo running to evolve it into Pawmot
Download Article
Has your Pawmi finally evolved into a Pawmo, but you haven't been able to evolve it once more into a Pawmot? The method to evolve Pawmo into Pawmot is brand new to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: you must walk with your Pokemon for it to evolve. While the most basic method is to simply walk 1,000 steps, Pokemon players have found three effective ways to make this task a bit easier. We've gathered these three easy methods to help you evolve your Pawmo into Pawmot, so keep reading to learn more.
Things You Should Know
- You must walk 1,000 steps with Pawmo in Let's Go mode for it to be able to evolve.
- After you've walked with your Pawmo, you must level it up before it will evolve.
- If Pawmo returns to its Pokeball while you are walking with it the step count does not reset, but you must send it back out in Let's Go mode to resume walking.

Section 1 of 4:
Evolving Pawmo: The Basics
-
Send out Pawmo in Let's Go mode by tapping R. Make sure Pawmo is the first Pokemon in your party, otherwise it won't get sent out when you enter Let's Go mode.
-
Walk 1,000 steps with your Pawmo. There is no step tracker in the game, so knowing when you've taken 1,000 steps can be a bit tricky. [1] X Research sourceAdvertisement
-
Level up Pawmo. You can level up Pawmo using a Rare Candy or by getting experience through battling.
- Pawmo evolves at level 18 to its mid-evolution, Pawmot.
- Pawmo will not evolve if you use auto battles to gain experience.
-
To evolve Pawmo effectively, use one of the methods below. These methods will help you easily track when you've hit the 1,000 step marker so you know when to level up your Pawmo to evolve it.

Send out Pawmo in Let's Go mode.

-
Level up Pawmo. If you did this method correctly, Pawmo should evolve into Pawmot.

Section 3 of 4:
Run for Two Minutes Method
-
Find an open area in a city. Look for a spot without items that Pawmo could get stuck on.
- Avoid areas with wild Pokemon to avoid entering battles.
-
Send out Pawmo in Let's Go mode.
-
Run for two minutes straight. If Pawmo goes back into its Pokeball you must send it back out, as it won't evolve if it's not in Let's Go mode.
- If Pawmo retreats to its ball, you may need to run longer than two minutes to ensure you've gotten enough steps.
-
Level up Pawmo. Pawmo should evolve into Pawmot if you did this method correctly.

Section 4 of 4:
Pokemon Center Method
-
Send out Pawmo in Let's Go mode.
-
Get on Koraidon or Miraidon. You must have unlocked the ability to ride Koraidon in Pokemon Scarlet or Miraidon in Pokemon Violet, which occurs once you leave the Academy for the first time and get all three main questlines.
-
High jump on top of any Pokemon Center. You can unlock high jumping on Koraidon or Miraidon after defeating the Lurking Steel Titan.
-
Let Pawmo run around. Pawmo will run around the perimeter of the Pokemon Center while you're on top of it, looking for you. These steps count towards the 1,000 step count, though this method could take up to 10 minutes to complete.
-
Level up Pawmo. If your Pawmo took enough steps, it should evolve into Pawmot.
