Well, I think the best love spells are self-love spells, because when we love ourselves and we feel worthy and we're taking care of ourselves and feeling good, our hearts are open to the possibilities. Like attracts like, more love attracts more love . So, because of that, I would look in the deck for some cards that really denote self-love.

I would pull out the Ace of Cups , which is our relationship to ourselves. It's very heart opening. It's self-love, self-compassion, kindness – all these good things that I think are so nurturing and supportive of ourselves.

And there's so many different ways to cast a love spell, but what I'm imagining is taking your Ace of Cups out and meditating with it and saying an incantation out loud, asking the Ace of Cups to open my heart to love, to fill me with self-love and ask that my love multiply and radiate out from my heart to the greater universe. Then, I’d go to sleep with the Ace of Cups under my pillow, and wake up embodying love.

One of the things I think is so fun about creating spells is that pell-crafting is a creative act, and though I have this knowledge that I'm relying on, you can do what feels right to you. You could place a card on your altar. You could place a card under a cup of tea, like rose tea, and infuse that energy into the tea, and then drink it. Magic is really serious and it's powerful, but it's also fun. A lot of the best spells, in my opinion, come from trial and error.

Pick a card for your crush, a card for the bond you want, and a card for the outcome you'd like. Next, pick a crystal that symbolizes love. Write down whatever you're looking for, lay your cards and crystal in front of you, and light a spell candle. Friday is a great day to do your spell, since it’s a prayer day to the goddess of love.
