- Foam beads
- Washable clear glue
- Water
- Slime activator ( contact solution , borax , or liquid starch )

Add your glue and baking soda to a large bowl. Pour 1.25 cups (300 mL) of clear or white school glue and 1 teaspoon (6 grams) of baking soda into your bowl and mix thoroughly. Be sure to use a sturdy spoon, as your slime will stiffen throughout the process. [1] X Research source
- Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil if you want your slime to have a nice fragrance!
-
Add shaving cream and food coloring. Mix in 3 cups (710 mL) of foam shaving cream and stir until the mixture is nice and fluffy. It will be a bit hard to stir at first, but this is normal. Then, add a few drops of food coloring to make your slime colorful . Mix until the slime is your desired shade. [2] X Research source
- Shaving cream is also an important ingredient when making fluffy slime .

Add contact solution and knead. Thoroughly mix in 2 teaspoons (9.9 mL) of contact solution until the slime begins to pull away from the bowl. As it becomes less sticky, move the slime to a flat surface and knead it with your hands until it’s smooth and pliable. If it doesn’t lose its stickiness, add a bit more contact solution. -
Fold in your foam beads and glitter. Make a slight indent in the slime and begin adding in your foam beads . You’ll use about a cup in total. Fold the slime over the beads and carefully knead it until the beads are completely blended into the slime. If you want, add some glitter to make the slime even more fun. [4] X Research source
- You can also add the beads and glitter before the contact solution if you prefer.
- If you want to add glitter but don’t want the additional mess, try glitter glue instead.
-
Store the slime in an airtight container. When you’re done playing with your crunchy slime, store it in an airtight container like a mason jar or a plastic bag to keep it fresh. [5] X Research source

Pour glue into a bowl. Add 0.5 cups (120 mL) of liquid school glue or school glue gel and add a few drops of food coloring, if desired. Stir until the glue and food coloring are thoroughly mixed. [6] X Research source
-
Add the borax slime activator. Dissolve 1 teaspoon (about 4 grams) of borax powder into 1 cup (240 mL) of warm water to create your activator. Slowly pour some into the bowl with the glue and stir. Keep adding the activator a little bit at a time until the slime begins to form. [7] X Research source
- If you don’t have borax, you can use baking soda and contact solution . Add ½ teaspoon (about 2.4 g) of baking soda to 0.5 cups (120 mL) of water and stir. Then, add 1 tablespoon (15 mL) of contact solution, and the slime will begin to form. [8] X Research source
-
Pour in the slushie beads. While the slime is still sticky, add your slushie beads . Adding them while the mixture is sticky ensures they’ll stay in the slime. [9] X Research source
- Find the right beads by searching for slushie beads, plastic pellets, or stuffing beads online or at your local craft store. They should be clear plastic and 3-4 mm in diameter. These beads do not have to be round.
-
Knead the slime. Add more activator, if needed. Be careful not to add too much, as this would make the slime too stiff. Then, knead the ingredients together with your hands until the slime is no longer sticky. [10] X Research source
-
Let the slime sit for 2-3 days. Once you’ve made your slime, store it in an airtight container. The color will become more clear if you leave it alone for a couple of days. [11] X Research source
- It’s important for slushie slime to be clear so you can see the beads!

Pour glue and water into a bowl. Pour an entire 5 oz (147 mL) bottle of clear glue into a bowl. Then, add 0.5 cups (120 mL) of water and stir well to combine. To make your slime more colorful, add a few drops of food coloring and mix thoroughly. [12] X Research source
-
Add in your slime activator. If you’re using borax, mix 1 teaspoon (about 4 grams) of borax powder with 1 cup (240 mL) of warm water. Then, slowly stir the borax into the bowl of glue. Add it little by little until the slime begins to form. [13] X Research source
- If you’re using contact solution instead of borax, first add ½ teaspoon (5.42 g) of baking soda to 0.5 cups (120 mL) of water and stir. Then, mix in 1 tablespoon (15 mL) of contact solution and stir until the slime begins to form.
- Another common slime activator is liquid starch . After mixing your glue and water, add 0.25 cups (59 mL) of liquid starch and stir until the slime gets sticky and starts to pull away from the bowl.
-
Add the fishbowl beads to the mixture. Adding the fishbowl beads while the slime is still sticky helps ensure the beads will stay in the slime. [14] X Research source
- Fishbowl beads are similar to slushie beads but are larger and flatter.
-
Knead the slime. Add a bit more activator to make the slime stretchy and reduce stickiness. Then, knead the slime so all the ingredients mix together. The slime is ready when it’s no longer sticky. - Just add the activator a bit at a time. If you add too much, your slime will become stiff.
-
Let your slime sit overnight. Store the slime in an airtight container and set it aside. Letting it sit overnight makes the slime clearer so you can see the beads more easily! When you’re done playing with your slime, return it to the airtight container so it stays fresh. Pour face mask gel into a bowl and add food coloring. Get two 6 oz (175 mL) bottles of peel-off gel face mask (like the Freeman brand) and empty them into a bowl. Then, add a few drops of your favorite food coloring and mix until you achieve your desired shade. [17] X Research source
-
Add liquid laundry detergent to the mixture. Start with about 1 teaspoon (4.9 mL) of detergent and stir it into the mixture. As you stir, slowly add a bit more as needed until your slime thickens and becomes slimy. It should pull away from the sides of the bowl. [18] X Research source
-
Pour in your foam beads and knead. As you add the beads, continue to stir the mixture or begin to knead it with your hands. The slime will be sticky at first, so keep kneading until it loses its stickiness. [19] X Research source
- Choose smaller foam beads for a crunchier texture.
-
Store in an airtight container. When you’re finished playing with your slime, put it in a container like a ziplock bag or Tupperware to keep it fresh and pliable.
