    Expert Answer
I think people tend to overdo it on the furniture when it comes to awkward spaces. Keep it simple and keep it minimal. If you overfill the space with too much furniture, it's going to feel awkward and overwhelming.

Use area rugs strategically to give each part of the floor a sense that it's distinct. That's a really great way to separate areas and create vignettes.
  • Question
What happens if you have 2 focal points in a room? For example, I will put the window facing the lake as 12 and the fireplace at 9?
    Decor42
    Community Answer
Your focal point would be the first thing that you see upon entering the room, typically a fireplace or large window. The other would be addressed to complement your main focal point, the same as one would decorate a large wall to make a focal point and the adjoining walls would complement that wall.
  • Question
I have too many windows, and it's hard to place anything without blocking them. What can I do?
    Community Answer
Sometimes this is an unavoidable situation. Try to use furniture with low backs so as not to block windows, especially if the windows are closer to the floor. If you must have furniture in front of a window, try to have it be pieces that are more "visually light," such as a glass topped end table, a tall-legged table, a faux or real leafy plant. Keeping window treatments to a minimum helps, too, to allow light to enter. If privacy isn't an issue, you might just use simple sheers. If privacy is needed, you can install roller blinds or horizontal blinds to use when needed and pull them out of the way when not needed.

It depends on how many people live in your home. Five chairs are probably the max.
  • Question

    Shiela francina

If your living room is small you can just place the important stuff in the room. Firstly your TV and second your sofa set. That should be it, unless you're able to squeeze in some end tables and coffee tables.

  • Question
How would I get a big bed out a slim door?
    Community Answer
If the movers got it through the door, you can get it out. The bed probably can be lifted sideways and fitted through the door.
  • Question
What is a good arrangement to fit two couches, a dining table and a TV?
    Community Answer
The couches could be put somewhere near a corner in your house, and the TV could be right in front of the couches. Put the couches in such a way that the entire arrangement of the couches forms a square, along with the corner. The dining table should be put away from the window if possible.
