How do I start a video reel?

Many acting coaches in many cities offer services to film demo reels. Ultimately, however, the best way to get a reel is through actually working on films and other filmed projects. Many film schools, or universities with film programs, have students who need actors. Once you have worked (usually on 3+ projects), you should get that footage from the filmmakers, take that footage to an editor, and have them edit you a reel that is between 20 and 60 seconds in length. Unless you know how to edit your own reel, opt for a professional to do it for you.
