  • Question
What are the most optimal algorithms?
    Ansel de Jong
    Community Answer
One of the best ways to beat 2048 is by keeping your largest number in a corner. I generally keep my biggest number in the top right, and have my next biggest number just to the left of it. Using this method, going down is not preferred, but it does have to happen sometimes. Left is okay as long as your top row is locked. Finally, make sure that you go right more than up.
  • Question
Will I get far in 2048 if I just go in consecutive order in the same pattern?
    Community Answer
You may go far, but you'll be lucky to win. One move not mentioned here is to concentrate on merging big tiles. In fact, they actually say not to do that, but rather than making it your primary goal, just merge your bigger tiles when they touch. The bigger tiles are more difficult to merge, so it's important to take every opportunity to combine them.
  • Question
Is moving in a circle a good idea when playing 2048?
    Community Answer
It gets you quite a high score, but since it is based on luck, it will usually not get you to the 2048 block.
  • Question
Is it true that in order to win I should never swipe down?
    Community Answer
No, not true at all. My friends have won many times and they swiped down a bunch.
  • Question
Can I swipe randomly to beat 2048?
    Community Answer
Yes, but it is solely based on luck if you do so. You are better off following algorithms, or just doing the math.
  • Question
    Where can I play 2048?
    Community Answer
You can play it on the app or you can just search it up. There are many different variations of the game, so if you get bored with the original one, just look at variations of it on other websites.
  • Question
What is the easiest way to beat this game?
    Ethan Ong
    Community Answer
There isn't an easy way to beat this game but the best way to beat the game is to practice.
  • Question
How to know if 2 or 4 will appear and where?
    CeeBee
    Community Answer
It is impossible to know if it is 2 or 4. This is completely random. But, it's most likely 2.
  • Question
What is the best swipe sequence to win?
    CeeBee
    Community Answer
Solving this game is an interesting problem because it has a random component. It's impossible to correctly predict not only where each new tile will be placed, but whether it will be a “2” or a “4”. As such, it is impossible to have an algorithm that will correctly solve the puzzle every time.
  • Question
Why is it even 2048 why not 4096?
    CeeBee
    Community Answer
It is called 2048 because it is the original last number. It is still possible to get 4096. The highest number in the game is 131072.
  • Question
I have done this a lot and now I beat the game almost every time. What should I try next?
    CeeBee
    Community Answer
Try the higher numbers. Most people think 2048 is the highest block, but really it is 131072. It could take you a couple of hours to get it though!
  • Question
I always lose in 2048. How can I win easily?
    Nicole1980
    Community Answer
You can't. The only way to win is luck, skill, and practice, also the game is not meant to be easy.
  • Question
Why does it give 2s only?
    · Deborah 李秋彤 ·
    Community Answer
It should give both 2s and 4s, so if it only gives you 2s, it could be a bug. 2s are more common than 4s, so if you keep playing, you might encounter a 4. If it continues to give only 2s, use it to your advantage! You can now predict the game better.
  • Question
What do I do if the high number gets out of the corner and another tile takes its place?
    · Deborah 李秋彤 ·
    Community Answer
That's alright, it happens a lot. Don't panic-- it's normal and solvable. Your best bet is to build a number of the same value as your highest number and merge them, even if it's 1024.
  • Question
How can I get a bigger board than 4x4?
    · Deborah 李秋彤 ·
    Community Answer
You can try googling for it. There are multiple versions including 5x5.
