Yes, they are active all year. They dig deeper in the colder months and live closer to the surface in warmer months, just like the insects they survive on.
  • Question
How could I entice a mole to come out of its hole?
    Community Answer
They shun the light, so they won't come out in the daytime for pretty much anything. If you're patient though, you'll be able to see them come out at night, although there isn't really anything you could use to bring them out yourself.
  • Question
How fast can a mole run?
    Community Answer
Moles can run at about 8 kph, or 5 mph. Moles can only run that fast for a short amount of time. That makes them very hard to catch, I recommend trapping the mole inside its burrow.
  • Question
How do I use double bubble gum to get rid of a mole?
    Community Answer
Juicy Fruit is the only one that works. You have to wear gloves, do not touch the gum with your hands. Chew it 2 or 3 times and throw it in the hole, do one gum daily. It took about 3 big packages of juicy fruit for the mole to die.
  • Question
Can I trap a mole and keep it as a pet in a dirt filled aquarium?
    Community Answer
Technically, you would be able to keep it alive and well, but you shouldn't keep moles as pets because they are wild animals and cannot actually be tamed. It would be unfair to the mole, and it wouldn't be able to live life as it is meant to.
  • Question
How many moles live in one tunnel at a time?
    Community Answer
Moles are very territorial and do not tolerate others living in their territory. The only exceptions are if they are breeding or they currently have babies. One mole will live in a tunnel at a time.
  • Question
Can you eat a mole after it's been caught?
    Community Answer
I suppose you could, but there isn't much meat on a mole, and as it's a rodent, the meat probably won't taste very good.
  • Question
What should I use for bait with a have a heart trap?
    Community Answer
2 big night crawlers poked on the same stick 3 to 4 times each. This will keep them in place as well as making the perfect smell to attract a mole. If the tunnel is active, you may not need bait.
