If you see mineral buildup in your pitcher, soak it in vinegar and water. Pour out the vinegar, then wash the pitcher with soapy water and rinse it thoroughly.

Yes, the Brita pitcher comes apart. You can remove the top of the pitcher from the bottom and clean the pieces separately.
  • Question
What if my Brita pitcher has green mold in the bottom of it? Can I use bleach to clean it out?
    Community Answer
I would recommend that you just get another pitcher, because it would not be safe to use bleach. Bleach can kill you if consumed, and there's no way to know for sure that you got it all out when rinsing.
