    Community Answer
I recommend using slight tones of purple and blue, but white pale skin is the most common for achieving the zombie look.

You could smear it with dirt and a soluble blood substitute, such as ketchup. Then you can throw it in the washing machine later.
  • Question
What kind of shoes should I wear?
    Kiah Rosendale

You can wear any type of shoes you want depending on what type of zombie you are. If you have a junk pair of shoes, you can add some fake blood as well.
  • Question
I have this brown dress; how do I make it look old since the blood or anything won't show up on it?

Try incorporating a scarf or some other lighter colored item, like a jacket, to put the blood on if it isn't showing up on your brown dress.
  • Question
What if i don't know what kind of zombie I want to be?

Try watching a few zombie movies and seeing what kind of zombie appeals to you most!
  • Question
I have a zombie outfit already with blood on it. Should I add extra blood to give it a bit more effect or just leave it?
    Community Answer
I think you could leave it, but to make it more like a zombie, you could make some more rips here and there so people will notice that you're a zombie. If there are already tears and rips, go ahead and do whatever you want.
  • Question
How do you make fake blood really dark in color?
    Community Answer
Add chocolate syrup to your red food dye and corn syrup mix.

  • Question
Can I have bare feet with my zombie costume?
    ReithRFX
    Community Answer
Definitely! I’d recommend using simple gray makeup or blood for your feet. Don’t make it too detailed, though, people probably won't be looking at your feet much.
  • Question
How would you "zombify" a leotard?
    Community Answer
Using a skin-colored leotard, add a few rips here and there, then use thin permanent markers to draw on stitches. Add some wounds with fake blood.
  • Question
I'm young, so how could I make my face look terrifying if I can't wear makeup? How can I make my hair messy if I only have a bob?
    Heather Kenyon-Haff
    Top Answerer
Go with acting: putting on a dead-eyed zombie stare is more important than makeup. Using hairspray, gel or mousse and messing up hair will work fine, even on short hair.
  • Question
What kind of makeup is the best for being a zombie?
    ReithRFX
    Community Answer
Simple gray makeup works well for a stereotypical zombie. It’s also the easiest to remove after. However, the liquid latex looks the most realistic.
  • Question
Will the latex hurt my skin, and will my tongue be stained?
    ReithRFX
    Community Answer
Unless you have a latex allergy, it will not hurt your skin. Try putting a small amount of latex on your arm and see what happens. Also, using the mouthwash/food coloring mixture on your tongue is quite easy to wash off with water or a toothbrush.
  • Question
How do I get the makeup off?
    Community Answer
I'd suggest that you use either makeup remover or warm water with soap.
  • Question
My friend and I are going to The Walking Dead convention. One day we will be zombies; another day, survivors. Do you have any ideas for a survivor outfit?
    Heather Kenyon-Haff
    Top Answerer
Look carefully at the costuming on The Walking Dead. Most outfits are dark in color, and fatigued. Except for a few key characters, they are actually rather dull and ordinary and not unlike the things the zombies wear. Most survivors wear practical and protective clothing, rather than decorative and flimsy.
  • Question
How do I peel off the latex when I'm done?
    ReithRFX
    Community Answer
Depending on the type of latex, it’s quite simple to remove. Most Halloween stores have latex/sprit glue removers, makeup remover works as well for smaller scars.
  • Question
Will the corn syrup and food dye mixture dry on the skin so I could make fake wounds?
    ReithRFX
    Community Answer
Yes! I’d recommend making the scar beforehand and using spirit glue to stick it to your skin.
  • Question
What should I do with my hands to look like a zombie?
    ReithRFX
    Community Answer
You can use a lot of the same makeup/latex that you used for your face. I’d recommend using grayish/blue makeup for your fingers and black makeup around your fingernails! Play around with your makeup and find what looks best!
