    Expert Answer
Start jumping up and down on the trampoline for several minutes. As you do this, you can create big arm circles to gain your balance. Also, look for a point that's directly in front of you, which will help you maintain your balance.

    Expert Answer
Many people assume that flipping is just throwing your bodyweight forward or backward and hoping that you land. A lot of your flipping strength actually comes from your core, so focus on core training, along with asymmetrical training and repetition.
  • Question
I can do the frontflip but I land on my butt. When do I untuck?
    Community Answer
Untuck near the end of the flip. Before you flip, choose a point of reference. It can be anything you see without moving or bending your head, such as a person or a feature on the wall. When you see that spot again, you'll know it's time to untuck.
  • Question
Am I able to flip in a bounce house?
    Community Answer
Yes, and it would work just like it does on a trampoline. Just make sure not to hit anyone else inside.
  • Question
How can I do a flip without the padded mats?
    Community Answer
Practice the trick until you feel comfortable with it. When you do feel comfortable with it, take away the net and, once you feel comfortable with that, do the same without the frame padding. If you don't do the trick right, you could get thrown off course or bail on the trick, which could lead to some injuries, so just be sure you've practiced enough first.
  • Question
When performing the flip when do I untuck to land?
    Community Answer
You should untuck about 3/4 of the way through the flip when you can see the trampoline's surface below you.
  • Question
Can I do this while chewing on something?
    Community Answer
No, this is unsafe, as you might choke on the gum or whatever else is in your mouth.
  • Question
How can I stop myself from jumping far instead of up? I almost always run into the net in the middle of my jump.
    Community Answer
You can practice regular backdrops (or front drops) until you feel comfortable that you aren't travelling too far as you jump. Then practice your flip, making sure on your takeoff jump you are close to a certain side of the trampoline, try to lean back faster (if it's a back flip), and make sure to tuck.
  • Question
How do I do a cartwheel?
    Community Answer
An aerial cartwheel is like a sideflip, except you'll keep your legs out. Face the direction you'll cartwheel. Lunge with one leg. Kick up your other leg to give you momentum and twist as you flip.
  • Question
What if I am too scared to do a front flip again?
    Community Answer
Then don't do it. Or, take lessons or ask someone to spot you, and go back to the very basics of a flip.
  • Question
What do I do if I am too scared that I will land on my head again?
    Community Answer
Ask someone to spot you, or take a break from flips for awhile.
  • Question
How do I work up the courage to do a flip on a trampoline?
    Community Answer
Just keep doing forwards rolls. You can then start to jump a little between the forwards rolls, and land them. Or you can get someone to do it with you and hold you as you go over.
  • Question
How do I get over my worrisome feelings when attempting to do a front flip?
    Community Answer
I was worried at first too, but I saw my friend do it and I worked up the courage. Try doing a front handspring first, then try a front handspring with your fingertips, then once you can do that, you can try a front flip.
