  • Question
How do I find out why my squash is dying before getting out of the infant stage?
    Community Answer
There are many reasons your squash may be dying. Squash bugs and squash vine borers are two of the biggest causes of crop/plant failure. Powdery mildew on the leaves may be causing the plants to die. Over-watering can be another cause. Research squash bugs and squash vine borers to see if that is what is happening to your plants. There are remedies. One thing you can do for your squash plants is to cover the vines every so many feet with soil, grass clippings, etc., so roots will sprout all along the vine. Should one part of the vine get infected/infested, you can eliminate that part and still have other parts of the vine remain viable. Water the roots and do not wet the leaves.
