New technology provides a number of options, all of which require some form of software (and sometimes hardware). VOIP - voice over IP (internet protocol) - enables voice phone calls to be transmitted along with data on suitable corporate networks. Apple provide apps, such as Messenger & Face Time (provided both you and the person you are calling have Apple products). Microsoft had Skype, but I think that is no longer supported. Other programs include the following: Jitsi: a Skype alternative for Mac, Windows PC and Linux, and Oovoo: a Skype alternative compatible with iOS, Android, Mac & Windows PC. Other programs include Voxox, Voca, Viber, Tox, Slack, and Ekiga.
