You want to leave the rollers in until they have cooled completely. This usually takes 10-20 minutes depending on the length and density of your hair.

I like steam rollers. These are heated one at a time and use both heat and water to set the hair. This makes the curls they create doubly strong.

Hot rollers create a different type of curl than curling irons. Hot rollers curls are better if you want volume; curling iron curls are softer and more natural-looking.

For short hair, you'll want to use smaller rollers. Rollers that come with clips that clamp over the roller are easier to secure on short hair than rollers with pins.
  • Question
Can I do this without hairspray?
    Community Answer
Yes, you can use hot rollers without hairspray, but the curls may not last as long if you have silky, straight or thin hair.
  • Question
What product do I need to hold curl with silky fine hair without a lot of hairspray?
    Community Answer
A curl holder would be best. Buy a curl holder that has all hair types written on it, really thin hair is a tricky one for holding curl. Getting some volume first would be the best though, coconut oil (raw is best) or a shampoo that adds volume would be good. After it's in let it set for either over night or a couple of hours then curl. that's what i do for my aunt who has the same hair type.
  • Question
How hot do the rollers get?
    Community Answer
It depends on the brand of heat rollers. Generally hot rollers have a temperature dial, that allows you to change the heat based on your hair type or what style you are going for.
