  • Question
Where’s the best place to put the biggest ship?
    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
There are only three locations for any ship: center, side or corner. In addition, there is much strategy involved in the ships' positions relative to each other. For example, you could group together all the small ships in the smallest field possible, leaving a vast open area for your carrier to 'hide'. In the end, there isn't really any one position for your carrier that is clearly better than any other. Feel free to come up with your own strategy and reasons why, then see if it works well towards winning the game.
  • Question
Is it wiser to place larger ships on the outskirts and smaller ships on the center, or vice versa, or neither?

  • Question
If you place your ships in different directions, does it help you in a way?
    Community Answer
Yes, as if they are all in the same direction, a player can figure out what orientation the majority of ships are in, which leads them to sink your ships in a fewer amount of turns.

  • Question
Are the corners a good place for the smallest boat?
    Tjomas
    Community Answer
It depends. Technically, it shouldn't make a difference where you place your boats, but it makes a difference if you know your opponent. If they think you are a sneaky person, who would put a boat in the corner, then it would be a bad idea. In the same way, if they think you are sneaky and might put all of your boats near each other, then don't do that. So, it shouldn't make much of a difference, but it is a strategy.

  • Question
If most players play by this strategy, is it going to be a good idea to throw a curveball and confuse the opponent by doing the opposite thing?
    Aston Plunkett
    Community Answer
If everyone does end up using this strategy, I would suggest confusing your opponent as much as you can so that they don't catch on to what you are doing instantly. Throwing a curveball, however, would be a great idea so that they don't know what you will do. Being unpredictable is a great advantage.
  • Question
How do I find the ships?
    Kathryn Lemon
    Community Answer
Trial and error. Try some on the edges. As soon as you hit, call out moves close to this other ship. It's a game of luck, though, so there is no guarantee this will work.
