Subject: Notice of Resignation
Good morning, Ana. I wanted to let you know about a position I have been offered at another firm. Things have been going really great for me here at Kal-El Corp., so I don’t want you to think that it has anything to do with the atmosphere at this company. However, I’ve decided to take the offer.
This opportunity feels like the perfect change of pace because the offer is from an extraordinary company that I feel could do really great things. I mean it when I say I have the utmost respect for you and every colleague here; however, the new position is at startup, which would give me an opportunity to help build a company while it’s still in its infancy—something I’ve always wanted to do.
The offer would also allow me to move to Tokyo. I’ve been wanting to live and work overseas for a while, which would be impossible to do at Kal-El. Now that I actually have the opportunity to go abroad, it really is an offer I can’t refuse.
The skills I’ve gained while working here are truly invaluable. I’m extremely grateful for the support you and everyone else at the company has given me since my very first day. My last day will be February 1, and in order to make the transition process easier, I’d like to offer to help hire and train my replacement.
Best,
Becky Smith
