What are some unique housewarming gift ideas that are affordable?
Here are some of my recommendations: you could make a homemade cake or pie (allergen-free, of course!) and then wrap it nicely with a handwritten note card. Another idea is a low-maintenance potted plant, which I prefer to flowers because you don't know if they have a vase to put the flowers in, and that can add a job for them if they're busy hosting! There are a lot of plants that have good connotations or are considered lucky. It's also a gift that will go with almost any type of home decor (if you've never been to their new house and don't know what the style is, it can be hard to pick out a decor item). You could also get a cute yet useful kitchen item, like a nice set of teaspoons or a beautiful mug. I also really love bringing a selection of teas wrapped well or in a nice basket, because most households will drink tea. And, even if they don't drink tea often, they're likely host guests at some point that enjoy tea, so it should be a useful gift.
Ideas for thoughtful bridal shower gifts she'll love?
I think that an appropriate gift can depend on the culture or the family in question, so keep that in mind. But first, check if she has a registry! A lot of girls these days do registries. If they don't have a registry, I would consult someone for advice. If you're close to the bride, you might feel comfortable just asking her! Say “What would you like to get as a gift? I'll be getting you a gift, and I want to make sure it's something that you would use in your home”. However, if you don't feel comfortable asking the bride, then ask the closest person to her that you know, like a dear friend or sister. If you can't do that, then I personally would go for something that is kind of neutral or crowd-pleasing, maybe like a big beautiful picture frame that will go well in most homes for their wedding picture. There are a lot of beautiful picture frames that can vary in price. You can also get something that could be used in the home, maybe a set of porcelain teacups or a beautiful book (I recommend Assouline books). It all depends on your budget, but try to stay attuned to the interests and tastes of the bride. Finally, remember that a gift is not just about the price–it's about the value it brings to the person. You can buy something that you're excited about that is $20, and the happy couple might love it and use it every day.
