No, not if you do it properly. Use your ring finger to pull your eyelid open, then very quickly line along the waterline. If you take too long, you'll make your eyes water, and the liner will never set. If your eye does water, you have to wait for it to dry, then line your eye again.
  • Question
Can I use liquid liner for the waterline?
    Magdalen Ketchum
    Community Answer
It will most likely not stay put, and it's more likely to irritate your eye. You should stick to a pencil.
  • Question
My eyeliner won't stick because my eyes water. What can I do?
    Community Answer
Try to apply eyeshadow primer to the place you want to wear eyeliner before applying it.
  • Question
Can gel/cream eyeliner with a brush work well in the waterline?
    Cecilia Flores
    Top Answerer
It's hard for it to stick, but I guess it does work a bit. Pencil liner is the best, though.
  • Question
    What about the upper waterline?
    Angel OnFire
    Community Answer
Grab your eyelashes very carefully and lift them up a bit, but be careful that you don't get any in your eye because that hurts.
  • Question
Is it bad for guys to wear eyeliner?
    HumanBeing
    Top Answerer
Not at all! The only people who shouldn't wear eyeliner are those who have allergies to its ingredients, as swollen red eyes are never a good look. Eyeliner isn't commonly worn on all occasions; for example, few people would wear it on a hike or to do gardening. Choose an occasion that you wearing eyeliner won't be too shocking, and go from there.
  • Question
If I want to make it look extremely black, how can I do that and make sure it doesn't sink down into my skin?
    Ellie Homewood
    Community Answer
With a small brush, blend out a black eyeshadow. Make sure the eyelid has more product, though, so it doesn't look lopsided.
