If you get both an undergraduate and graduate degree in teaching, that will take about 6 years total. You may also need 1-2 years of classroom experience (e.g., as a student teacher). If you live abroad, you’ll also have to complete an Assessment of Overseas Teaching Qualifications, which can take several weeks to process.

  • Question
I have a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in physics. Can I become a teacher in Australia?

There's one set of requirements to be allowed to enter a country, another set to be allowed to work there and another set to work as a teacher. You may be the best teacher, but if you do not qualify for an entry visa or a work permit, you can have all the degrees you like, but they won't help. These degrees you mention are not by themselves enough to get into Australia. Apply for an entry visa and a work permit. Of course, the fact that you have these degrees does help, but it's not all you need.
  • Question
I have a bachelor degree in B.Com (Hons) and want to become a teacher in Australia. Am I eligible for that?
    Community Answer
To become a teacher you must possess teaching skills proven by having a graduate certificate or degree in teaching in order to teach in Australia. Since you have a degree, a certificate should be enough, or you might consider a Masters in some form of education of interest to you.
