QuestionI've heard that black is the dominant color in mice. So for example, if I bred a black and a brown mouse, the offspring will all be black. Is this true? If so, why?Community AnswerIt depends on the parents genotypes. Supposing the male has two black alleles (BB) and the female has two brown alleles (bb), then yes, the entire litter will be black and their genotype will be Bb. The lowercase "b" is the brown allele, and this means that the entire litter will carry the brown gene (meaning they can pass it on to their offspring and have brown offspring), but will have black fur themselves. However, if the dad was a carrier of the brown gene, meaning that his genotype was Bb, then the litter would have a 50% chance of being either black or brown, because they could be either Bb or bb. I suggest looking up Punnett squares on Google and drawing one out.

QuestionI want to start rearing mice as a business. Where do I get baby mice, how long does it take for them to be fully matured and to whom do I sell when they are matured?Mande Odi RSCommunity AnswerDon't start from baby mice. Get a pair of mice of the opposite sex, or a male mouse with two or more female mice. Once the female mice are gravid, separate them from the others and keep them in a cage or a tank with new bedding and hide. Then all you have to do is regularly feed and water them until the pups start roaming around on their own. Reptile keepers are the main target. Snake owners are the primary and potential buyers to buy your mice to feed their pythons or whatever snakes they have.
