    Yes, it works well.
  • Question
Is it OK to do this without nail polish?

    Community Answer
    Nail polish remover should work.
  • Question
Can you put a sharpie on top of nails when they are already painted?
    Community Answer
Without a top coat, the Sharpie will eventually rub off. Wait for at least 20 minutes for your nails to dry, and then apply a top coat to seal the marker in.
  • Question
Does it matter if I color my cuticles?
    Community Answer
It will stain for awhile, but you can take it off with nail polish remover and a Q-tip. Therefore, it does not matter if you color your cuticles.
  • Question
Can you put Sharpie on the top of a coat of nail paint? For example paint your nail in white nail varnish, then put a pattern on the top with Sharpie.
    Community Answer
Yes. The safe way to do it is to apply a top coat first, so the Sharpie doesn't come in contact with the natural nail and doesnt stain.
  • Question
How long do these stay on? About a day?
    Community Answer
It stays for a week, but the dim color will remain unless you use nail polish remover. Be careful to not color your cuticle.
  • Question
What about Kid Made Modern fabric markers?

I am 99% sure that won't work, I have tried fabric markers, and they didn't work, it might depend on the brand, but I wouldn't count on it.
  • Question
Can I fix a Sharpie that has ruined my nail art?
    Community Answer
Only if you let it dry in a messy way; if it's not dry, you can smear it. You can also use hair spray to make it last longer.
  • Question
What happens when I just put sharpie on my nail first because I don't have a base or top coat?
    Community Answer
When you apply something on your nails (or skin) it gets dissolved and goes into your bloodstream. If you put sharpies on your nails, the chemicals in the sharpies go into your bloodstream (nothing really happens, but too much of it too often is a bad idea, that's why drawing on yourself with pen is bad for you). Also, you need a top coat for the nails afterwards or the sharpie color will wash off.
  • Question
Is it mandatory to use top and bottom coats with sharpies?
    Community Answer
It is not necessary, but it will help to seal it in.
  • Question

Nail is just dead tissue, like your hair. The marker may stain for a while, but it won't be permanent. If you really want to use a Sharpie and you don't have any clear coat or polish of any sort, use white-out and draw on top of that with the Sharpie.
  • Question
Won't the Sharpie smear when it comes in contact with the top coat?
    Community Answer
Normally it shouldn't. You should just be sure to let the sharpie dry 100% before putting on the top-coat just to prevent any smears.
  • Question
    Can I use a highlighter?
    Community Answer
You can, but it won't last very long.
  • Question
    Do metallic Sharpies work?
    Community Answer
Yes, metallic Sharpies are better than regular ones!
  • Question
Do you have to top coat your nails before you put the sharpie?
    Community Answer
Yes because you don't want the sharpie marker in contact with the real nail itself or the skin (although a little amount wont hurt).
