QuestionI cannot pull my legs into a straight line for the split jump, only an upside down V. I can do it on the floor, but not in a jump. Do you have any suggestions?Community AnswerPractice your oversplits. Put one leg above something (like a couch) and put your other leg on top of something behind you. Once you start getting more comfortable doing that, start putting your legs on higher surfaces, then try the leaps again. Your straddle/split should have improved in the jump. Note: Getting really high oversplits takes a very long time and is very difficult. Also, not everyone is flexible enough. If you ever feel pain doing the oversplits, stop immediately.
-
QuestionHow do I practice the straddle position?Community AnswerGet on a trampoline and master it there. Always stretch well first. Try to carefully do a slight over split (center) on the ground, and once you've mastered that, build up your core strength and mind-body connection to carefully pull your legs higher with every straddle jump you do. Stay hydrated, and take breaks frequently. If you don't get it the first time, don't give up. Keep practicing, but know your limits. It takes a lot of practice and concentration to improve your technique.
