Respect is the first place you start to understanding how you're behaving in life. It's also a key part of your moral compass. If you don't have respect, for others or yourself, you aren't going to interact with the world in a productive and meaningful way.

You can change this through your own actions. Be true to yourself and honestly speak your mind to them. Tell them that you feel taken for granted. If they continue to take you for granted, you'll need to accept that that's their right. However, you can move on and find people who do treat you well.

Try focusing on the positive things about yourself. For instance, at the end of each day you might write down a list of everything you've accomplished, or you might write down one thing you're grateful for every day. These practices can help shift your mindset to being more positive.
