  • Question
I accidentally broke my laptop a few days back. Half of the screen is white, two portions of it gray, some areas black, and others with color pixels. What do I do?
    Community Answer
You should buy a new screen. If you physically damaged an LCD screen then you're out of luck.
  • Question
Is there a way to get rid of dead pixels on a laptop screen without having to buy a new one?
    Community Answer
Use the software methods or the rubbing methods. This should work. If not, contact the manufacturer.
  • Question
I have a long thin black line running down my computer, but it leads to one huge blotch. How should I fix this?
    Community Answer
You can't, the monitor is broken. It's kind of like throwing a brick through a window, nothing is going to be able to fix it short of getting a new monitor.
  • Question
How do I find dead pixel lines if my monitor is getting worse? The rubbing method didn't work for me and neither did the software.
    Community Answer
Contact your manufacturer, your display is physically damaged and needs to be replaced.
  • Question
I have two very small bright spots on my laptop that appeared suddenly. How should I remove them?
    Community Answer
You can try JScreenFix. If you don't know what it is, you can look it up on the internet. You may have results with it, but keep in mind that it will only dim the dots and will likely not totally remove them.
  • Question
How do I remove the lines that have appeared at the top and bottom of the LCD image on my laptop?
    Community Answer
Check the connectors and the cable. If all is good and it still doesn't work, you will need to buy a replacement screen or a new laptop.
  • Question
How severe is a green stuck pixel?
    Daniel Tucker
    Community Answer
Does it change color? If it doesn't, you have a dead pixel. That means you need to replace your screen. If it does change color, use software to fix it.
  • Question
I have a few red pixels, how do I get rid of them?
    Community Answer
These are called "dead pixels." They are pixels that always stay one color, and are broken. If your computer is still under warranty, you can get your manufacturer to replace your screen.
  • Question
I have a small bright spot and I dimmed the dot with JScreenFix. Is a followup with pressure solution an option or not?
    Community Answer
You should not use the pressure method until you've tried using JScreenFix on the pixels overnight, (Turn the monitor around so it doesn't keep you up if you use the monitor in your room.) If the dots don't dim any more, then put a small amount of pressure on the spot. If it makes it worse, stop immediately as you may cause more damage if you continue. If it helps, rub the pixels that are stuck for about five minutes with your finger, stop if it spreads. If all works, than keep going and your pixels will be good.
  • Question
How do I know if I have dead pixels on my LCD monitor?
    Community Answer
Dead pixels always look black or very dark grey on a white background and whitish / lighter on a black background. They also have a characteristic "square" shape. The main problems with cheap LCD panels, in addition to this, are backlight bleeding at the edges, and excessive IPS glow.
  • Question
I discovered a finger-sized dot on my screen that makes the mouse go haywire when in its vicinity. I think the screen is stuck to the LCD crystals at that point only. Is it repairable?
    Community Answer
The screen needs to be replaced, as the screen may be physically damaged. Generally it's not economical to repair.
