Standard printer paper is the best place to start with paper airplanes. It is light enough to use in flight but heavy enough to hold creases well. If you're new to folding paper airplanes, this kind of paper is the most forgiving; it lets you try things without ripping or being too flimsy. You can even use uncoated copy paper because it folds more cleanly and stays in place better than glossy or coated types. I'd say the secret to making a great paper airplane is not really the type of paper but the accuracy of your folds.
  • Question
    Is there an easier way?
    Community Answer
Fold the paper in half the "hot dog" way. Then take two top corners and fold them to make a really tall pentagon. After that you can fold it in half on the original crease down the middle. Lastly, fold the back edges over to make a triangle shape (those are the wing).
  • Question
How do you attach misslles or bombs to the wings?
    Natasha Neumansky
    Community Answer
Draw them straight onto the wings, or draw them on another piece of paper and cut them out and glue them on. Color them in to make them appear different.
  • Question
How long does advanced paper airplane take to make?
    Community Answer
It takes ten minutes to make the advanced paper plane, as long as you know how to do origami. If not, it'll take a lot longer.
  • Question
If you angle the wings up such that the back of the plane looks like the letter "Y", will the plane tilt in any direction?
    Community Answer
Yes it will. But if you are making a stunt plane, it depends on what tricks you want it to do.

The diagonal folds for step one should be from corner to corner. Make these 2 folds. Next, turn the paper over and fold in half along the length. You will have 2 valley folds along the diagonals and a mountain fold down the middle. This will collapse into the shape in the next step of the instructions.
