  • Question
I am 16 and I have man boobs. Will they go away automatically after I enter adulthood?
    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
Don't count on it. At 16 you've done most of your growing up, physically. The only way to get in shape is to commit to losing weight. Eat well, drink water, and most of all sleep the same hours every night, even on the weekends. Your body's metabolism will find a rhythm and will work much more smoothly. Working out helps too, but not as much as a healthy diet.
  • Question
My whole body is slim, but I have man boobs and belly fat. How can I reduce those?
    Community Answer
You can't target specific areas for fat loss, so your best bet would be to focus on building muscle, which will slim your body overall (including your chest and stomach) in time.
  • Question
What is the minimum age required for gynecomastia?
    Community Answer
If you mean the disease itself, I'd say around your pubescent years, when your hormones start to change. If you mean the surgery, there is no minimum age as long as you have parental consent.
  • Question
Can I possibly make them smaller or get rid of them without surgery?
    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
As the article says, you can either buy more concealing clothing, commit to losing weight, or both. There are no shortcuts. You will have to eat well, drink lots of water, and most of all, sleep well. Weight loss is 80% healthy lifestyle and 20% workout. Even moderate walking for half an hour every day is enough as a workout. Just avoid fats and sugar, alcohol, all that stuff, and eat veggies and fruits and fibers. Sleeping every night at the same hours is also hugely important.
  • Question
What if I've gotten rid of them and they come back? How can I remove them permanently?
    Community Answer
Unless you have surgery, the only way to get rid of them permanently is to stick to healthy diet and exercise regiment. If you lose weight and go back to your unhealthy habits, you just gain the weight back again. Go to the gym 3-5 times a week, eat plenty of lean protein and fruits and vegetables, and stay away from junk food and sugary drinks like soda.
  • Question
Is it possible to get rid of "man boobs" without surgery?
    Community Answer
There is a condition called gynecomastia, which is basically a hormone imbalance and it causes puffy nipples. If you're a teenager it should disappear within a few years. Try to balance your hormones by exercising and building muscle and eating a healthy diet.
  • Question
Are there any specific exercises I can do to get rid of them?
    Community Answer
Focus on your arms and chest muscles with things like push-ups and weight lifting. Strengthening the chest should help reduce fat in that area (but remember to eat healthy as well).
  • Question
What if I'm 12 and had them for almost my whole life, how do I get rid of them?
    Sean Medina
    Community Answer
Do your standard push ups and look for exercises that target the muscles in the chest area. This way, you can eliminate the fat in your chest and get firmer muscles. When you are old enough to go to the gym, go for bench presses for more chest-intensive activities.
  • Question
    Can steroids help?
    Community Answer
They are not recommended, as they can cause more problems than they can help fix.
  • Question
I am 13 and have man boobs, is this normal at my age?
    HungryH
    Community Answer
Yes, you are going through puberty, this is normal as the hormones fluctuate. Expect them to go away, check up with the doctor if you don`t think it is too awkward, as it may be a symptom of testicular cancer if it doesn't go.
  • Question
When I do push-ups, they dont help. What else should I do?
    Community Answer
The best way to get rid of man boobs is to lose weight. Man boobs are made of body fat, so the only way to get rid of them is to lose body fat. You cannot lose the fat in your chest area by doing pushups. Exercise helps you lose weight, but it doesn't target any specific area. To lose weight, you should adopt a healthy diet. This can be very hard, so try to start small. Make small changes in your diet, for example, having fruit for snack instead of candy. Stick with that change for a week or two, and then make another change. Make sure not to eat too little, because this can hurt your metabolism and make it harder to lose weight. Try seeing a nutritionist or dietician.
