  • Question
How do I remove if I installed Linux?
    Banana Head
    Top Answerer
First: If you are still in the virtual machine with Linux installed, click the X and choose "Power off the machine". Close Virtual Box. Boot up Virtual Box. Right click the computer that has Linux installed. Choose "Remove" from the menu. Select "Delete all existing files".
  • Question
How much RAM can be used with a VirtualBox?
    Community Answer
As much as your PC has. For example, if your real PC has 4 GB of RAM, your VM has access to 4 GB of RAM, although that will not leave any RAM for the main PC functions, like the operating system.
  • Question
Does installing VirtualBox make the computer forget the network it's currently connected to?
    Banana Head
    Top Answerer
It does not! Installing VirtualBox will be like installing any other computer program. Your real computer will remain connected to your real WiFi and will not disconnect or forget your network. The same goes for creating a Virtual Machine. Your real computer will never be disconnected from the WiFi.
  • Question
Can I install viruses on the VM without getting a real virus?
    Banana Head
    Top Answerer
Absolutely! One of the incredibly good uses of Virtual Machines is that they are disconnected from the outside world, so you can test new software and illegal software on them without real life repercussions. This includes system-destroying viruses. Based on your settings, the virtual machine might have completely virtual hardware and software. If you destroy the computer so much it can't start, delete the machine and create another one. This arguably the best way to test viruses, since you can create whatever type of computer you want. To summarize, yes. This is a great idea. Nothing from the virtual machine will affect your real life computer if you're careful. Just in case, scan with AV.
  • Question
What do I do if I installed Kali Linux with this method, but it gives an error message and black screen when I start it?
    Community Answer
Install Windows 7 as it doesn't give any errors. Then you can install virtual machines again and install Kali.
  • Question
What do I do after I select "capture"?
    Community Answer
Simply click ctrl+c or use the print screen button and paste it into Paint, Word, or Notepad.
  • Question
Can XP Pro 64 be installed on VirtualBox?
    Community Answer
Yes. As long if you're using a 64-bit PC, create a virtual machine and select it as "Windows XP 64-bit" and have the iso file of Windows XP Pro x64, then you can install VirtualBox.
  • Question
I received an error: Fatal! No bootable medium found, system halted. Why is that happening? I thought I followed everything correctly. Any advice?
    Arrogance
    Top Answerer
Most likely, you didn't remove a non-bootable floppy or CD image from the machine. Either that, or you changed the boot order and put the hard drive before the CD drive without installing the operating system first. The default order is floppy, optical, and then hard drive.
  • Question
I've bought a programme that needs Windows XP Professional. I've got Windows 10 Pro installed. After I install the virtual machine, in this case the one from Oracle, how do I go about installing my programme?
    Arrogance
    Top Answerer
Once Windows XP is running in VirtualBox, you interact with it in basically the same way you would if it were running on a full computer. Either download the program through the web browser, or put the disc into your CD/DVD drive and tell VirtualBox to mount it from the Devices menu. It then shows up in Windows XP as a normal CD or DVD.
  • Question
My mouse will not operate outside the virtual box. How do I fix that?
    Arrogance
    Top Answerer
If the guest operating system supports it, install the Guest Additions. When the virtual machine is running, open the Devices menu and select "Insert Guest Additions CD image." You can then move your mouse pointer outside the VirtualBox window seamlessly. Most Linux distributions already include drivers for this. If the guest isn't compatible with guest additions, like Windows 98, then you'll have to release the pointer by pressing the Host key (usually the right-hand Ctrl key).
  • Question
If I install Windows 98 from a CD, will it actually format my hard disc? How can I stop it if I need to?
    Arrogance
    Top Answerer
It will only format the virtual hard drive inside VirtualBox. The Windows 98 CD will not run/try to perform an upgrade if it detects a newer version of Windows if you run it in your host OS by mistake. Most newer computers won't even be able to boot from the Windows 98 CD, and it will not format anything unless you tell it to. So there's basically no risk of this happening.
