There are no animated pictures because they are all videos. They are there so we can understand how to make macrame.

Go get a macrame book from the library, or search online for a pattern.

Fold the cords in half, then attach them to straw, pencil, another cord, etc., using larkshead knots. You will now have eight cords with which to work. You can make two square knows (four cords each) on first row. Then, on the next row, tie one square knot by excluding outer two cords on each end by using the middle four chords to make the square knot. Next, to practice double half-hitches, pull the left outside cord across the other seven, using each of them to make one knot. Then, pull the right outside cord (was the left outside cord) across the seven other cords and repeat.

'Too short' means when you can no longer make any more knots because it's too difficult to due to the length of the remaining rope. 'Glue the extremities' refers to sealing off your last knot seamlessly by dabbing some glue on your last knot to hold it together. However, if you are using a thread such as nylon braided for a jewellery project, you can burn the ends of your last knot very briefly to seal it in place.
