Look online to find the location of the cabin filter in your car. Remove that and either replace it or vacuum it carefully. Then, spray it with an antibacterial deodorizing spray. Also, spray the air conditioning intake, then run the AC on cold on a reverse cycle. Vacuum the interior of the car, then spray the antibacterial air freshener on the fabrics in the vehicle, as well.
  • Question
I can't find source of smell in used car I purchased. What could it be?
    Ginger Benson
    Community Answer
I'd try cleaning the carpets really good. It's probably something in there. Good luck. I have a little green bissell steam machine and I would put water, some vinegar, few drops of dawn, and a couple of drops of downy fabric softener for your cleaning solution.

How do you take cigarette smell out of car seats and upholstery?
    Toomanypieces
    Community Answer
Use a mixture of vinegar and baking soda in a spray bottle, and spray the seats and carpet until lightly damp. Let the mixture settle in and then use a shop-vac to vacuum the areas clean. Leave all doors open to air out. You may need to do this process several times.
  • Question
How do I change the cabin filter?

The location of the cabin filter depends on your car model, but it is often found behind the glove compartment. Remove the glove compartment, usually secured by clips, and then replace the filter. Check your car's owner's manual for the location of your cabin filter and removal process, and follow the reverse instructions to complete the change.
