QuestionHow do I resolve error "FAILED TO BIND PORT" when I'm trying to add my own server IP in properties?Community AnswerThe server IP in properties should always be left blank. It is used when large hosting companies set up servers. When people connect to your server, they use your internet IP, then your port (by default, the Minecraft port is 25565). The way many servers use letters in their host names is by using domain name servers - those are special servers that translate letter domains into numbers. So to solve your problem, simply leave that area blank. It's not how you set up your IP.
-
QuestionWhat should I do if my minecraft server batch fails to connect to server?Community AnswerIf the server fails to load and you get a screen of garbled text, run the server as an administrator. Right-click on the program and select "Run as administrator." You will need the administrator password.

QuestionWhenever I try to search my IP address, it says things like "Cumincad references, TOC for Robots." When I Google "my IP address," I get a string of 25 numbers and letters. What does this mean?Philipp HoehnCommunity AnswerYou might be getting a 128 bit IPv6 address instead of the standard 32 bit IPv4 address. Minecraft doesn't support IPv6 yet. You have to change your router and/or computer settings. Then you can Google "What is my IP?" and share that address with your friends. The address should look something like 72.52.4.120. The numbers may be different, but there should be four sections separated by periods.

QuestionWhen I try to open the start.command file after the batch file is ready this message comes up: "Error: Unable to access jarfile minecraft_server.1.10.2.jar logout." What should I do?Community AnswerYou may be typing the name in incorrectly. Let's say that the file that you downloaded from Minecraft.net is named "minecraft_server.1.10.2.jar." Try renaming it something like "mc.jar." Then, the command you would type would be: "java -Xms1G -Xmx2G -jar mc.jar."
-
QuestionIs it safe to do this or can my computer be hacked?Community AnswerYou are allowing the world access to your internet port, but the likelihood of someone outside of your friends trying to access your server is very low, so it's relatively safe.

Let's say that the file that you downloaded from Minecraft.net is named "minecraft_server.1.10.2.jar". Try renaming it something like "mc.jar". QuestionThe batch file loads up and then I get the message, "Press any key to continue." When I press a key it shuts down. Is this normal?Άγγελος ΡάπτηςCommunity AnswerOn the batch file there is the specific code java -Xms512m -Xmx1G -jar minecraft_server.exe. Change -Xms512m -Xmx1G - to -Xms256m -Xmx512m - or the RAM you want to use. If the RAM you use is higher than your computer's RAM, then the server can't run.

QuestionWhen starting a dedicated server, is a brand new Minecraft World created for this or can I specify which world the server will link to?Community AnswerYes. If you are using a map you made in Minecraft go to where the world is (by default it is in Roaming, go to run (WIN+R) and type %appdata% and click .minecraft). Go to saves and look for what you named the world (not all characters render in filename, "Jason's World ^.^" would be "jasons_world") and copy the file into your server files. Delete the "World" file and rename the file you just copied "World."

QuestionWhat can I do if I cannot type into the command prompt screen?Community AnswerSince there isn't any reason you wouldn't be able to type into the command prompt screen, there may be an underlying issue. Check to make sure your keyboard is working properly. If it is, make sure you've actually clicked in the command prompt window. If all else fails, you may need to start over.
