    Expert Answer
A young puppy will have difficulty concentrating for any length of time. Therefore, short, frequent training sessions are best, such as during the ad breaks when watching TV.
  • Question
How do I train a puppy not to bother an older dog?
    Community Answer
Usually the older dog will take care of that all on its own. If you are afraid the older dog can't fend off the young pup, teach the puppy the "leave it" command. This is where the puppy gets rewarded for immediately stopping whatever he's doing, usually it's something highly interesting or attractive, and returns immediately to the owner. Just be aware, if you don't want him to play with the other dog, you've got to give him an alternative (a treat ball or other puzzle toy can be good if you also need a break).
  • Question
If the puppy retrieves the object but runs away, what should I do?
    Community Answer
Introduce the object again, slowly. Reward the puppy with treats if he has any interest, even if the puppy doesn't necessarily take the object right away. Practice a few times, it will get the hang out it.
  • Question
How can I get my dog to like my new puppy?
    Community Answer
Introduce them slowly. If they show signs of aggression, do not force interaction. Separate them and repeat this process until they seem comfortable with each other.
  • Question
My Cockapoo is 10 weeks old. House training is coming along well. She has recently started to get very animated in her barking and jumping up. I use the command "No" with my hand. Is this correct?

Yes. Make sure you say "No" in a firm, strong voice without yelling, and while you yell try pointing your finger too.
  • Question
The play biting is really bad. What can I do?
    Community Answer
When your puppy nips you, say "No!" in a firm, steady voice, without shouting. After this, try to ignore your puppy as much as possible, or remove yourself from the situation.
