You must be careful and have a full view of the road before passing, especially if you're on a two-way road. Also, if you have an oncoming car that's coming towards you that appears out of nowhere, you're to slow down, pull back and behind the car you're trying to pass and wait until it's safe again.

What makes passing on a two-lane road so dangerous?

If the lanes are travelling in opposite directions, moving between lanes to pass the car in front of you can result in a serious, and possibly fatal, collision. You should avoid passing on two-way roads unless you can see the road ahead for some distance.
