If you are sent to jail, you must move your piece there until you get out. To get out of jail, you can pay $50 to get out or roll to try to get doubles. If you don't roll doubles on your third turn, you must pay $50.

QuestionCan I play the Landlord's game on a modern Monopoly board?Community AnswerFirst of all, no. It has a different layout and therefore the properties will be messed up. Secondly, the Landlord's game is essentially the predecessor to Monopoly, so you are not really gaining much. Plus, the boards are hard to find and the ones you can find will be expensive unless you already own one or have copied one. If you want to play retro Monopoly, then track down the original 1935 board.

QuestionHow do I make the game last as long as possible with 3 players?Community AnswerGive more money at the start. For example, the normal 1500 would become 3000. If the player(s) have more money at the start, it means they will (almost) always be able to buy properties, allowing for more properties to get brought at the start, which in turn makes it harder to get a monopoly, making it less likely that building will occur. This can prolong the game a lot though. Even 2-player games can go on for hours.
-
QuestionHow do I make the game last as long as possible with 3 players?Community AnswerAdd rules that give players more money (such as allowing double-hotels, free parking rules, landing directly on Go, more starting money, etc). Adding in a third dice can make the game longer, as it will be harder to land on high rent properties. Be careful though: a 3-player game can already last a few hours without messing with the rules.

QuestionWhy can't I change the rules as I play the game? That is what the government does. Forget it, I'll never win.Community AnswerThis can count as cheating and can confuse players (especially ones new to the game). If you want this to be part of the game, make sure everyone agrees on it before the game starts.
-
QuestionCan you play with 5 year olds?Community AnswerYou may find this a bit tricky, as a 5 year old child may find Monopoly complicated and not understand the concepts behind it. However, this could be solved by pairing young players up with someone older to guide them through the game, so you can certainly try.

QuestionIf nobody sees you rob the bank, can you take the money?Community AnswerIf you want this to be part of the game, it needs to be agreed upon at the start. If you want a Monopoly game where cheating is encouraged, play Monopoly Cheaters Edition.
