    Expert Answer
The beginning of a speech is all about attention grabbing. You can do that through a good joke, a good loud voice, or a strong presence that really welcomes the audience and gets them involved. Try to excite your audience, motivate them, and get them really thrilled about what you're going to talk about.

Practice your speech out loud, either in front of a mirror or in front of a friend so that you're forced to do it before you actually give the speech. When delivering your speech, try to relax and breathe. All of these things can really help you give a great speech.

    Expert Answer
If you speak slowly and clearly, you're going to come across as confident. Try to breathe and really articulate what you say. You can also pay attention to the way you end your sentences. If you're going up in pitch at the end of your sentences so that they all sound like questions, you're taking away and undermining your power and confidence.
