I know it's not homemade, but I use this stuff by OxiClean called "Out." It got out a urine stain that was 4 years old, it's a miracle.

If you use bleach it will. You should just use some water and carpet cleaner. Then just put a towel over top with a heavy book for at least 24 hours. If the urine is still there than repeat step one.

Take a small amount of vinegar and pour it over the affected carpet area. This works best for small stains. You don't need to drown the stain in vinegar, just pour enough so that the vinegar sets in with the stained material. After the reaction is done, wipe and vacuum the vinegar and baking soda from the carpet.

You could soak the urine out with a cloth or paper towels Then you may have to use white vinegar and water mixed half and half into a bowl, pour the solution onto the urine stains, And use a scrubbing brush, to blot the urine out, you need paper towel, pressing firmly onto the stain.

I have dog urine that I just noticed after over 8 years. I’ve tried Gisselle pet stain, water and vinegar and also Woolite plus oxy pet stain and odour remover. None of these worked. Any suggestions?

In a bowl, mix 10 ounces of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, 3 tablespoons of recently opened baking soda (note: not baking powder), and 2-3 drops of dish-washing detergent. Pour into a spray bottle. Pre-test the upholstery by spraying some cleaner in an inconspicuous place. Clean it with the solution. Allow it to dry.

Mix a solution of 2 cups of warm water, 1 tablespoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap and 1/2 cup of vinegar. Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the mixture and apply to the soiled area. Blot lightly. You may need to do this a couple of times to remove a tough stain.

I've always been told not to vacuum wet areas, what will this do to my vacuum by using it to get any excess solution out?

If it's a wet vac, no problem at all. A dry vac could not suck up much water before turning the dust bag into a soggy mold farm, and producing a possible shock hazard. If the vacuum doesn't say "Wet-Dry" then don't vacuum up any liquid.
