    Community Answer
You'll have to consult your motherboard manual. Check for a "clear BIOS" jumper. With the computer off, move the jumper to its clear position and turn the computer on; this should reset your BIOS. Afterwards, turn your computer off and restore the jumper to its original location.
  • Question
What does "BIOS" mean and what is it exactly?

    Community Answer
BIOS stands for: "Basic Input Output System." It's instructions code for the computer to boot up. Without this it will spin around for hours. It tells the machine what to start up and what not to start up (like a light switch that is either on or off but nothing else). It's on the level below Windows, out of the way. It's just used for booting up the right way. Without the BIOS you go nowhere. BIOS is a small instruction program that needs to have special care, so you shouldn't tamper with it.
