You roll until you lose. If you crap out by rolling a 2, 3 or a 12, you lose the bet, but you keep the dice and roll again.

What are the rules for side bets when shooting craps?

Once the point is set, anyone can make a side bet on the current game. Usually, side bets are made in groups of two numbers. For example, let's say the shooter's point is a 10. Considering that a 10 and 4 are approximately the same percentage of likelihood to hit, you could make a side bet against the shooter (or anyone else for that matter) that the shooter would hit a 4 or a 10 before they hit a 7 or 11. Some people don't allow side bets on 6 and 8 as a group because of the higher likelihood that they'll hit those numbers versus a 4/10 or a 5/9. But, you can always bet a single number against another single number as well. (E.g. I bet the shooter will "7 out" before they hit an 8.)
