QuestionHow do I solve a Rubik's cube while blindfolded?Timothy Huynh is a Rubik’s Cube Artist & Champion based in Tampa, Florida. Timothy has been solving Rubik's Cubes professionally since 2016 and became a Guinness World Record Holder with advanced Rubik's cube-solving skills. Timothy has a follower base of over 8.6 million YouTube subscribers and 124k followers on Instagram. Internet celebrities including David Dobrik and Simu Liu have sung his praises, and Pixar has deemed his work "incredible."First off, you have to memorize the cube, its positions, and how many spins each piece needs. What I did was use Quizlet flashcards, where each piece on the cube represents a letter, like a little puzzle. So, if someone says "C-T," you think "cat" because that's the word associated with those letters. Then comes the algorithm; each letter combo has its own moves to get the cube back in shape. My Quizlet setup was all about remembering these letter combos in my brain. Memorizing all those pieces and their spots takes a lot of time. It gets frustrating at times, but with enough practice and dedication, those letters become second nature. Just keep practicing, and soon enough, you'll be solving your cube easily while blindfolded.

QuestionHow long does it typically take to solve a Rubik's cube?Community AnswerIf you are just starting out, aim to get down to two to three minutes. Then once you get some practice, go below two minutes. That is around where you should get after a few days of practice. Always try to be faster though -- the world record is 3.13 seconds!

QuestionWhat is the fastest way to solve a Rubik's cube?Community AnswerThe "layer method" described here is intended for beginners. There are faster methods that are more difficult to learn, the Fridrich method being the most popular among world-class speedcubers.

QuestionI'm seeing blue squares where the diagram shows yellow, but everything else is the same. What should I do?Community AnswerJapanese-style Rubik's cubes reverse the position of the blue and yellow faces compared to Western-style Rubik's cubes. Follow the instruction as though these colors were switched on your cube.
-
QuestionWhat is meant by "Ri"?Community AnswerRotate the right face of the cube a quarter turn, anticlockwise. R means turn the right face a quarter turn clockwise, and the i means "inverse".
-
QuestionWithout setting white first, how do I solve all the colors in time?Community AnswerStart solving the cube with ANY face (yellow, green, blue, red, orange, or white). The algorithm doesn't change.
-
QuestionHow can I make the white cross?Community AnswerTo make the white cross, you need to align the edge to the center piece of the white center along with the center piece of the second color. For example, the white and blue edge piece will come in between the white and blue center.

QuestionHow do I get under a minute? My best time is one minute, twenty-two seconds. I am trying to learn CFOP, but it's going slowly.Community AnswerWork at it progressively. Since you know the basics, work on mastering F2L, then using your usual method to solve the last layer. Mastering F2L should get you below a minute, then you can focus on the orientation and permutation steps which tend to take the longest to master.

QuestionI didn't understand what is meant by, swap one with two and three with four. Can you elaborate?Community AnswerYou need to do the algorithm so that the front corners and back corners swap at the same time.
-
QuestionIn the last layer, I'm not able to locate two adjacent color corners. What should I do?Community AnswerLook for any two corners of the same color. Once you find them, should they not be adjacent, perform the algorithm once to align them, then rotate the cube 90 degrees and perform it again to align them correctly.
-
QuestionHow do I solve a mirror cube?Community AnswerYou need to picture it as if the sizes of the faces were colors, and follow the same procedure.
-
QuestionThe update has removed the move notations, and I have two unsolved cubes sitting in my classroom. How do I get the move notations back?Community AnswerThere are a few apps on both Apple and Android that will actually show you the moves to solving the cube if you put in the colors. If there's no other option for you, just use that.
-
QuestionHow do I solve a triangle Rubik's cube?Community AnswerIt’s called a pyraminx. First, you solve one face. Then, you orient and permute the remaining 3 edges.
-
QuestionIs this possible if I solve the blue color first?Community AnswerYes, you can solve any color first. Just look as if blue were bottom and green were top.
-
QuestionHow long is it to solve a color?Community AnswerYou can solve a side in about 20 seconds if your just learning and using this method.
-
QuestionHow can I solve the first and second layer together?Community AnswerUse the Friedrick Method, otherwise known as CFOP. There are lots of videos to help you learn.
-
QuestionWhat is an algorithm?PopeyedSpore26Community AnswerAn algorithm is a way of doing something, a method. In this case there are many ways of solving a Rubik's cube.
-
QuestionWhen solving the last (yellow) side, which side is the "front"?Community AnswerThe front face changes and is not permanent, so follow the steps rather than the colors.
-
QuestionI'm not getting the third layer. What can I do?Community AnswerMake sure you are holding the cube correctly. If you are changing your grip during an algorithm, it may be messing you up. Make sure you are doing the correct move. If it asks for you do an anticlockwise turn, make sure you are not accidentally doing a clockwise turn. Track pieces -- this is slightly more advanced, but can help for some people. When you do an algorithm, you are moving blocks from your first two layers out, then back in another way. Try to watch the blocks as you take them out, and keep watching when you make more moves. If the movement is illogical, then you are probably doing something wrong.
-
QuestionHow do I play with a Rubik's cube?Community Answer"Playing" with a Rubik's cube generally just means solving it.
-
QuestionWhy are the move notations absent from this page?Community AnswerThey are absent because this is a simple solution. If you want the notations, you will need to go to the Rubik's Cube home page.
-
QuestionIs there an easier way to solve a Rubik's cube?Community AnswerNo, there is not.
-
QuestionOn the last layer, what can I do if I don't have adjacent colors?Community AnswerLook for the horizontal line. If a dot appeared, repeat the algorithm of the horizontal line or the adjacent color.
-
QuestionWhat does the algorithms mean with apostrophe, for example R’? Could you list the algorithms and their exact meaning?Community AnswerIn total there 12 algorithms U, U' ,D ,D', F, F', B, B' ,R , R' L, L'. The once with apostrophe are inverse or anticlockwise. The example you gave is R': R means to take Right layer to upside and R' means to take Right layer down, R' is often though called as R Inverse. One with a apostrophe is anticlockwise to without apostrophe.

QuestionCompleted till last layer Step 1. In step 2, I am failing to orient the corners, when I try to orient the corners whole cube mixes.Jason NguyenCommunity AnswerDo the steps again and go to the step where you orient the corners and put the top layer facing to the top, and put the correct corner on the top-right spot and do U, R, U', L', U, R', U', L.
-
QuestionIn the second layer, all is fine except that the red and green edge piece is swapped, so the red part is on the green and the green is in the red. (The one in the on the side.)Jason NguyenCommunity AnswerDo the algorithm U, R, U', R', U', F', U, F. You will see the piece out and do step 4 again.

QuestionI heard Petrus was better? How do I begin to go about learning Petrus?Nathan OravanakalathilCommunity AnswerPetrus is an outdated method that not many cubers use today. If you haven't learned how to solve using the beginners' method, you shouldn't start a new method because those methods are partly based on the beginners method. If you choose to learn Petrus, learn the beginners method first.

QuestionWhat do I do if I have a green-orange and a blue-orange piece stuck on both sides of the Ooange face on the second layer? I have the orange and red sides up to the second layer.Nathan OravanakalathilCommunity AnswerYou can take out the piece by doing the following algorithm: R U R' U' F' U' F. This should take out the edge on the right side. The left side is the left-handed version of this algorithm.

QuestionMy Rubik's Cube has the two of the same color on one corner piece. Is my cube still solvable?The_swestCommunity AnswerUnfortunately, this makes the cube unsolvable, as only one colour can be on each face, meaning that having the same colour on both faces render it as unsolvable.
-
QuestionCan I do it without all those steps?Community AnswerNot really, but take a look at jperm.net. You will find a good tutorial there. You can also watch his YouTube videos.
