  • Question
I live in Ghana, where banks are not willing to loan to new or small businesses. What can I do?
    Community Answer
Start small and gain a reputation by having a prudent cash flow. Try to save up your own money to invest into the business and ask around for other investors. After a year, if your business has grown, ask banks they would consider a loan.
  • Question

    Community Answer
You may want to check out Alternativeproject.org, a site for business training and network for resources. If not the business training, they may be able to provide connections for resources.
  • Question
I live in Nigeria and people living around my community do the drying service themselves. How can I handle this?
    Community Answer
Unfortunately, dry cleaning services are a luxury in some areas. If your geographical area is low income/poor, or people just wouldn't use the service, it's not a good idea to open a dry cleaning business there.
  • Question
If I don't have a lot of funds, can I start a dry cleaning business without the machines?
    Community Answer
No, probably not. What would you clean with? You'd be better off getting a loan from the bank to purchase the machines and paying it off as you being to make a profit.
  • Question
Where can I find a dry cleaning business to buy and what is the approximate cost?
    Community Answer
There are websites where businesses are bought and sold, and dry cleaning businesses would be included on those. However, if you are new to the industry, there are huge pitfalls to buying older facilities, due to the high cost of replacement of machinery, new dry cleaning laws, production capacity and age. You would do well to research franchises that offer a range of options and will help you with attracting customers, using the right machinery and other important decisions.
