It helps to study during the time you'll be taking your test. For example, if your test is from 10AM to 1PM, study during those hours every day. Once you get closer to your test date, practice studying in noisier areas. This will help prepare you for distractions during the test, like people shuffling papers and entering and exiting the room. You should also take a full mock test without interruption once a week., which will help you get a feel for what the actual test will be like

This all depends on your level of English. In general, a minimum of 3 months of studying is a good starting point. If you're advanced you may need around 15 hours of study time, but if you're more of a beginner you may need closer to 40 hours.

I have passed 10+2 from CBSE Board. Now I want to do my undergraduate degree in the USA (George Mason University). Do I need to clear the TOEFL for that?

Applicants who hold a conferred bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or recognized university in Canada (excluding Quebec), Commonwealth Caribbean, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand have demonstrated English proficiency. All other applicants are required to show proficiency either by examination scoring or by taking at least two college-level English Composition courses in the United States and meeting minimum scores set by Mason to be considered for admission.
