That's unwise as the blanket may insulate the fridge and could consequently increase the risk of fire rather than reducing it. If you keep the back of the fridge clear of dust and litter, you should minimize the risk of any fault causing a spreading fire. Fitting smoke alarms and having a fire blanket available is probably a better protection measure which will protect you from other possible fire hazards as well.
