I thought the CodeBox had a style that seemed quite old. I recall that wikiHow used to have a blue design, and I assume that the CodeBox was made to fit the website back then. I wanted to see if it could look better with different attributes to fit the new design of wikihow. http://www.wikihow.com/User:A-mad-writer/sandbox Here is a test run of the template on the main sandbox page (after the last step) http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Sandbox&oldid=6852666 There is also a new attribute, “font-family: monospace;” so that it is already mono spaced without adding anything. I don’t really know how its all done in wikiHow, so what do you think? May I edit http://www.wikihow.com/Template:CodeBox to the new code? P.S. I wanted to implant the tag `` in the template but wikiHow doesn’t seem to support ParserFunctions.

I believe on the main site you can write: CODE HERE to show code.

@AndrewG1999 `` tag is for wiki markups, not meant for programming codes. Programming codes are displayed in their own format. @A mad writer I see what you made changes to CodeBox template. But I am not much sure I think if CodeBox’s background color will be different, then it’s easy to pick it up. What about # F3ECDF color, which is our wikiHow sidebar’s color. I just changed that color, see this here .

@IamSH looks good:slight_smile:oh and about the parser, it doesn’t seem to work with the source tag.

@A mad writer Do you know how to do that? I am talking about that parser. I have no knowledge on it.

I don’t know a whole lot about it, but this is a pretty good documentary for it Help:Extension:ParserFunctions - MediaWiki

@A mad writer See this page . Parser functions are just like or same as wiki markup, which can be written using nowiki tag. See this here . So I think this is why there is nothing for parser functions in source tag as there is already nowiki tag for it.

Sorry, but what are you exactly saying? Is the source tag going to be left out of the codebox?

@A mad writer No source tag is the only thing which gives the look according to the source language to codes. So source tag is an important one. I just said above that for parser function source tag is not needed, it can be displayed using nowiki tag.

So your sample goes like this`{{User:IamSH/Codeground|

}}`Can you confirm me on this: Each individual places where the codebox is placed needs a source tag inside.

@A mad writer Yes, you have to put source tag inside CodeBox tag and it’s recommended. Without source tag, CodeBox will not give that language specific color to coding.

Okay. Sorry; I got confused. So do we need an admin to edit it or something? There is a nifty header saying do not edit on a page that anons can edit.

@A mad writer Yes, we will ask the whole community and admin to review this idea, if they think it’s correct, then we can change it. I am going to start a new thread to review this.

Thanks:slight_smile:
