I think there should be a template for clear AI articles that haven’t been edited at all. The sort that still have the “Certainly! Here are some tips on how to–”Along with those more obvious examples, I think it could be applied to articles written by users who cannot seem to use English up until the point of the article… if that makes sense.

What’s everyone’s opinion on this? It doesn’t need to be an NFD tag or speedy, as @JayneG has said.
Something more like “This article is suspected to be AI-generated content” would perhaps be more fitting.

What exactly do you mean? Like articles that should be nominated for deletion due to AI content?

Yeah, I think that’s what he means!

I think it’s a good idea. We don’t really have an NFD template on that now- the boosters just write a message to the users saying they think their article is AI-generated.

I would propose two distinct templates, one for AI generated content and one for AI generated images, i.e. {{aicontent}} and {{aiimage}}. The articles tagged can go into a category for monitoring and processing, then perhaps deleted if not reworked.

I’ll steal some wording from other templates and policies to make possible talk page messages align with what’s already being sent.

{{aicontent}} talk page:

Hey there!

I noticed that you have recently published an article here on How to [[LINK TO ARTICLE]] and wanted to say thanks. Contributing new articles to wikiHow is one of the best ways to help out! I did want to reach out, though, because it appears that the article you submitted may contain some indicators of being AI generated.

Readers greatly benefit from and value articles that are the result of real human writers and researchers, and AI generated articles may contain inaccuracies and be marked as spam by search engines which can hurt wikiHow. For more information, you can read our AI Policy .

AI can be an excellent tool in helping you come up with article ideas or learning, but all content should be in your own words. We don’t fully publish articles that might be AI generated and they may be deleted if not rewritten. Let me know if you have any questions about that - I’d be happy to help.

Either way, I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for contributing here!

{{aicontent}} article:

This article may contain AI generated content and may need to be re-written to meet wikiHow’s AI policy .

{{aiimage}} talk page:

Hey there!

I noticed that you have recently uploaded images to wikiHow. I did want to reach out, though, because it appears that the images you uploaded may contain some indicators of being AI generated.

Readers greatly benefit from and value articles with images that are the result of real people, and AI generated images may contain inaccuracies and be marked as spam by search engines which can hurt wikiHow. For more information, you can read our AI Policy .

You could consider reusing a wikiHow image instead! Let me know if you have any questions about that - I’d be happy to help.

Either way, I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for contributing here!

No need for an {{aiimage}} image template - just blank the page to remove the license and it’ll get swept up with other unlicensed images.

Support!

{{aicontent}} could be shortened to just {{ai}} though, as I imagine that would be far more used by a whole lot of people as compared to {{aiimage}} which would be of use to mostly admins.

While there was only some consensus reached, can an admin check over the message that would be sent using the template: AI , to ensure it complies with policy, and that this same template sticks with general policies of article templates created a long time ago including atyles and schemes. Thanks. i wouldve thought this to be a project of an admin - but it wasn’t.

Looks good! I added a space and Bhoimus made other needed changes. I’m interested in a different icon from the accuracy one, but I’d be fine without it. I uploaded these two images as a possibility:

Image:RobotIconMaterialSymbols_NOFILL.png - wikiHow Image:RobotIconMaterialSymbols_FILL.png - wikiHow

I personally like the filled in robot, but thats up to whoever who fixes it.

Made a variation of it! You can see it on the Sandbox page

@JayneG What are your thoughts?:smile:

I think the template looks great and will be super helpful! I know it’s been a while coming, so thanks to everyone for your patience and for your help in making it come to life!

I think we can consider this good to go!

I dont think so. Image seems a bit too tiny to be noticeable, and this is zoomed in.

It shows up fine on the article, just not there. I also cannot get the {{{date}}} to autofill like other templates. I’ll poke around when I’m home

The image shows up now but I still cannot get the date to autofill. No idea why

Thanks for adjusting the image. It shows better now on mobile.

I do recall something happening with others while Anna was here, that said there’s something in the systems that boxes have to be checked behind the scenes that would fix that. Wondering if these boxes could be added for this particular template?

Tagging @JayneG .

I’ll take a look this week!

Looks like we got it! @EpcotMagic sorry for testing on your article :slight_smile:You’re correct that there was an extra step. Noting for the future that I had to add it to an autostamp Mediawiki message!
