Hey All, For those of you who love knitting, it has come to our attention that the next big trend will be Swants. Yes, swants, means, sweater pants! I know, I know…you may or may not like them, but here they are! Is anyone able to write an article on how to make them? https://www.google.com/search?q=swants&espv=210&es_sm=91&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=o-l3UrzHAc7XigLpo4C4Cg&ved=0CF8QsAQ&biw=1440&bih=691

Ron, I think we should move this to General Chat. And you can request a new article anytime! But not in the forums, I presume. You should drop your request in the request an article section. ~Ima

Ron requested collaboration to create an article on Sweater pants. Is that so wrong? The general chat section is meant for off topic chitchat. This is perfectly on topic. Anyone can request collaboration on anything wikiHow related anytime. Putting in a request is only half the battle since it could be months before anybody answers it. By placing the request here, he made us all aware of an upcoming trend and the need to cater to it. If anybody who knows how to knit this sees this thread they can create an article immediately. wikiHow has a long list of requests pending, and as I said before, it can be months or years before someone answers it, and few contributors actually delve into the depths of the answer a request tool. Your eagerness to moderate the forums is appreciated, but kindly refrain for trying to moderate every thread that comes up in the forum. There is absolutely no need to suggest closure and moves so often unless needed. I understand you are a member of Go Forums, but I would suggest you avoid coaching every editor who creates a thread. If there is something wrong with a thread, Admins will take care of it in time. Besides, this thread is perfectly valid. There is nothing wrong with it at all.
This seems to be the problem. You are trying to moderate the forum with your own set of presumptions and assumptions. This is not the first time I have seen a post like this. Please read forum guidelines before coaching at every chance. By the way, Ron D is a wikiHow staff member

Sorry Ron:( where do I read the guidelines? And, isn’t it for general chat? My gosh, I am getting confused!

I would suggest asking the owner of a yarn store or yarn company. They usually keep up with the trends. Another idea would be to contact someone who teaches a knitting class. Lastly, you could check on ravelry, which is the social network for knitters. I am more of a beginner knitter and even though I attend some knitting meetups and go to yarn stores, I have not heard of swants.

This is the link for Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/account/login
I have an account there: http://www.ravelry.com/people/elocina
Odds are that there are some other wikiHow knitters with accounts there too. They have main boards and forums where you can post questions, so it may be worth it for wikiHow to create an account. The wikiHow account could also post the knitting patterns hosted here on wikiHow if they aren’t on ravelry already. I’ve made several headbands using Knit a Thin Headband, and am currently making dishclothes based on the pattern for Knit a Dishcloth (right now I’m halfway through dishcloth #3
).
