Anybody remember that old article How To Cope With Wearing Headgear At School? Well, it got deleted. Did you know that I written it? Well, I was planning to rewrite it. Can you do that?

It depends on the reason why it got deleted. I’d say, if it was a duplicate, it’s in the best interest to not re-write it. What was the reason exactly?

Not a lot of detail.

It’s fine to rewrite an article that has previously been deleted, as long as it is fixed to deal with the issues brought up in the NFD discussion for the old article.

An article I wrote was ‘play hot potato’. It had previously been deleted because iy was dangerous, but I meant the hand game, not actual hot potatos.

If the reason it got deleted can be fixed, write it again.

Yeah, pretty much what he said.

TheMartian is about to go on an NFD article fixing rampage. Remember, you have been warned.

^^^ Exactly.

If you want to start an article that’s been deleted, regardless of the reason, and your new article conforms to the wikihow policies, then go for it! One of the lacking areas in wH is the handling of deletions. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of feedback from the community at-large and admins typically have to use their best judgement when deciding on a deletion. I know Krystle and others are working on an app to deal with this, but until then, it can be difficult to nail down exactly why an article was deleted. Some admins, like myself, will delete an article if it just doesn’t make any sense to be included in wH. It might be recoverable with a BOLD EDIT but I’d rather delete the article and encourage another user to start over. Other admins are more on the side of leaving it be to make it easier for another user to clean it up.
