I think that we need to add to the NFDs. In the past, it has been quite easy to get rid of articles like this…they sucked. This one, however, is well done. I think we need to add another category for NFDs. NAP - Not Appropriate We have to draw the line somewhere. http://www.wikihow.com/Masturbate-in-the-Back-Seat-of-a-Moving-Car-Without-Your-Parents-Noticing

I would support. There’s a time and place for those questionable borderline topics of life - they don’t belong on wikiHow though.

Technically, it’s meaning that if you’re an adult (persay in your 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, etc), and you’re wanting to find 13 year olds on Facebook to “friend” (I have no idea and I feel really uncomfortable in saying “to get a date with”), then that’s pretty much it.

Then that would be Girl Friends and would still be creepy

Wouldn’t this go under the sex tag? (I know it’s not exactly the same but it’s along the right lines)

Not in my opinion. It is put under that, but it isn’t sexual in nature, exactly. It’s about sex though.

FORGET IT! Changed mind. Misread the article and discussion Theresa left. Sorry.

@Byankno1 what???

@Ttrimm I originally had another message posted. but shortly after I left, I discovered I misunderstood the intended topic, and something else would have better sufficed. So I “removed” my original message, and posted something else in it’s place, saying that I changed the original message.

Hey- -I’d delete this yack in heartbeat. Please consider the diff in this and “Girlfriends,” which seeks to highlight a problem. Ty

Gotcha @Byankno1 …it didn’t make sense to me at first. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

Dang, that’s really detailed. I support the idea of “NAP”, but I think nfd|sex still works since masturbation is sexual in nature (self-stimulation). What is the threshold between tagging with {{nfd|sex}} and speedy deleting?

To me the difference is, that it isn’t sexual. It’s about sex. There’s a difference.

Hoo boy… I can just imagine the “interesting” discussions that will ensue on whether (or not) to keep any of these… O.O

So… You would fully support speedy deletion on the masturbation article, but still defend the other one?_“Are you older, but still crave young women?” “Find a target in your community” “Take it from there. Believe this; no one is watching.” “You cannot stop a determined 13 year old.”_You do realize how much this screams pedophile, right?

Yeah…my roommate said we should call the cops on the editor (I told her he was a little younger than me). Of course, I didn’t, but still.

I’m not sure about creating an “inappropriate” reason because that’s a very subjective criterion, and we will end up with a lot of NFD tags placed because someone, somewhere thinks a topic is “inappropriate”. Historically, though, we’ve done quite well as a community voting to delete articles that we feel crosses a certain line. We’ve been challenged by intellectual trolls who will write articles that don’t “technically” violate our deletion policy, but at the end of the day, we decide through discussions like these that they are not what we want here, and the author’s intent is not really to help people, but to prove a point. That being said…Personally I don’t get how this is not sexually explicit? http://www.wikihow.com/Masturbate-in-the-Back-Seat-of-a-Moving-Car-Without-Your-Parents-Noticing Steps 6 and 8 are quite explicit. As for http://www.wikihow.com/Get-13-Year-Old-Girlfriends-on-Facebook-when-You’re-Old This has all kinds of accuracy issues. The topic is both broad and unclear. We typically do not target a specific age, but rather, we target age groups. What does “you’re old” mean? How do these instructions apply to any particular age group? It seems to be general to making friends on Facebook, and the parts that are specific are unclear, if not implying predatory behavior (the picture and the caption, for example). I changed the NFD template to “accuracy” and posted these same thoughts on the discussion page.

Just by the tone of the writing, all of these implies that the reader and “target” are within the same age group/range: http://www.wikihow.com/Get-a-Girlfriend-Via-Facebook-Chat http://www.wikihow.com/Get-a-Girl-to-Like-You-on-Facebook http://www.wikihow.com/Chat-with-a-Girl-on-Facebook http://www.wikihow.com/Flirt-on-Facebook Teens and teenagers never to rarely use the term “old”, sooo, IMHO, that’d be an adult (anyone over the age of 18). So for the article to comply with “any age group”, it would then be a duplicate, or severely completely changed for me to accept it.

yes, and that is the stated intention of that article. I came back to say that, as much as I dislike the article, i would vote to keep “Masturbate.” Arg, can’t believe I’m saying that, but one obscure passage in Scripture, “spilling your seed on the ground,” does not a commandment make–in fact, it reads more to me like a “this is your state of mind” kind of thing. Do we still have “Dye Your Pubes?” But we are mixing issues here, as I think “FB” is in a diff CAT? Ty

um, yikes? It’s masturbating?
