I’m working on a story for school about religion. I chose Independent Fundamental Baptists. My issue is that I know literally nothing about them or how they work, since I’m not even Christian. If any of you have any knowledge about how it works, I would love to hear your thoughts. Help!
I’m Baptist. I think IZ said Tdubell is, too. What would you like to know? June Days
Not Baptists in general, but the smaller group on Independent Fundamental Baptists. Firstly, I’m not sure I understand what the difference is. Secondly, I don’t know w single thing about them other than what Former Independent Fundamental Baptist forums say. I’m not the best researcher, so I was hoping any of you might be able to help me out.
If you try Google searching, it appears to hit a dead end. However, with what little information you do find, you can try cross-referencing that. For example, the incredibly small Wikipedia page about it points out that “Independent Baptist churches (some also called Independent Fundamental Baptist, or IFB) are Christian churches generally holding to conservative Baptist beliefs. They are characterized by being independent from the authority of denominations or similar bodies. Members of such churches comprised three percent of the United States adult population according to a 2008 survey. According to the same survey, they represent less than 15 percent of adults who consider themselves Baptist.” Also, the majority of the attention they get online seems to indicate that people think of them as a cult.
Thank you so much, guys. That link was really good. ISMKW, I’ve tried Google searching for practically hours and came to the same conclusion as you. I think less of Google now. Any thing else anyone can tell me, I’d really appreciate it!
Wait, what exactly are you *wanting to know*…History? What we do? How churches are planted…Etc… June Days

Not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but the main thing in difference from what we believe (as New Testament/Born Again Christians) and what they believe is that we think of baptism as essential and is one of the things you NEED for salvation. They actually (despite the name, :P) think that baptism isn’t essential for salvation but that you can do it to be like God, but nothing more. Okay, hope I got all the IFB part right… Did I (June)? =)
^ Kind of. Being Baptist means you have to act like God, honer Him - You don’t nessicarily have to be baptised, however, you need to except Him forever in your heart. June Days

Everything I found on it was worship during church.
This is all actually extremely helpful. @June
, it would be really helpful to kind of understand what a day in the life of a girl would be like for a teenage Fundamental Baptist. The assignment says to chose a religion, research it’s history, beliefs and life style and reflect your own feelings, opinions and views on the religion through a fictional character’s experience living in that religion. It’s hard to reflect your views when you’re afraid they might be bias or unfair because you know too little, so, as the assignment says, it would be great to hear whatever you know about Independent Fundamental Baptist’s history, beliefs and life style. ~Beth
Oh. I’m absolutely horrible at grammar, but I’d be happy to help research for ya.

That would be absolutely wonderful, thank you so much!
