I know that according to title policy, if the titles are same though the content is different, they’re duplicates. And I believe that the same applies to NFD guardian… but if the articles have very minute difference in the titles but the content is not worth keeping… should we just go ahead and delete them though “dup” won’t be the perfect reason for it…? I have had this doubt for some time, thought I should also know what the community thinks about this.

NFD Guardian is just an easier way of clearing out the backlog of articles nominated for deletion. The deletion policy applies. and must be adhered to while using the tool. It is my understanding that articles which don’t qualify as dups but aren’t worth keeping should be edited, and the nfd reason changed to the whichever reason applies. You can then vote to delete, if you think the article doesn’t need to stay. The best possible practice, though, would be to edit the article and fill it with good content matching the article’s title. Since the title is not a duplicate, the article could then blossom into a good article, and the nfd tag can be removed as per your judgement. It is a time commitment to save an article, though, so you might want to place an inuse tag, to avoid accidental deletion of the article you are trying to save. NFD reasons are not set in stone. Boosters and admins can change the nfd reason if they feel the current reason does not apply. Best practice dictates the soliciting of community approval, though this is not necessary. Booster should seek an admin’s approval if they have been a major contributor to the article before the tag was applies, though.

Generally, it should go by title, regardless of content. Sometimes people are a little more lenient with kid/teen topics though, like some will delete “Keep a Pet Rock Happy” as a duplicate of “Keep a Female Pet Rock Fulfilled With Its Life”:stuck_out_tongue:If you’re not sure, feel free to post examples for some more specific feedback!

Looking at the question from the opposite side, if the content were distinct and useful, the title can be tweaked a little bit to make it distinct so the duplicate page can be saved and offer a different, and measurably unique method of accomplishing the goal. Since your question is specific to near duplicates whose content ‘‘isn’t worth keeping’’, it might justify changing the nfd template to reflect the reason for deletion, for example, incomplete or accuracy.

Thanks for the input, guys. Will surely keep in mind:slight_smile:
