Fangirling is basically when you lose the ability to contain all the feelings and excitement you get from fandoms (Books, movies, shows, etc.) and just start spazzing about it, so yeah, pretty close.
I mean what we are a fan of could be called fandom.
A girl being a fan would be fangirl.
So is there fanboy?
^Yes, though some still refer to themselves as fangirls. Fanboy is a legitimate term, just a less commonly used one.
