Normally, I would say let’s be open, but the wikiHow forums have nothing remotely useful to the wikiHow reader. I’ve heard Discourse has private pages. As us wikiHow contributors each have different viewpoints, we do not want the news to come across us and criticize us for them. It would be better if logged out users could not see the forums.

Here is the listing of us on Bing search: wikihow forums - Bing

Well… I found this: Discourse for Teams

The forums aren’t listed in the Explore dropdown to logged-out readers (which is the majority of our readership), and most of the forum’s views are from logged-in users and web crawlers, so I’d wager a guess that most people don’t even know we have a forum. Maybe at most the forums could be deindexed from search results, but I’m not really sure we need to do that either. If a news source wanted to write about us, they’d look for the Contact Us page at the bottom of the main site and not our forums.

Yes, I never knew there was a forums until I heard some people talking about it and saying it was an alternative to chatting on talk pages. I was confused on what the heck this was… and now I’m posting in it.:joy:

I think it’s probably good just to use this as a reminder that everything we do on wikiHow - whether on the main site or the forums - is public. If you’d rather not have things public, it’s best just not to post them:slight_smile:Discourse for teams is not something we’ll be likely to implement.
